What happened to Michael Sellers?

Who was Michael Sellers?

Michael Sellers is the man responsible for the death of Gracie Spinks.

According to reports, Sellers had a stable, normal upbringing but spent a lot of time with his family as he had no close friends.

Sellers started working for Xbite, an e-commerce firm in Chesterfield, in 2015. This was where he met Gracie Spinks, who began working in the warehouse in April 2020 after she was furloughed from her usual job as a swimming instructor.

Sellers became obsessed with Gracie. He would stalk her and often turned up at the stables where she kept her horse. Gracie told police about his worrying behaviour and warned them that he was the kind of man who could kidnap someone.

Who was Gracie Spinks?

Gracie Spinks was born on October 19, 1997, in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.

She was the first child of Richard and Alison and was joined 16 months later by her brother Thomas.

Gracie was a lifeguard and warehouse worker from Old Whittington. Outside of her work, she was a keen horse rider and she had her own horse, which she kept in the stables at Blue Lodge Farm.

On June 18, 2021, at 7 am, Gracie left her family to tend to her horse. A short while later, just after 8 am, she was found unconscious in the field. Around that time, a man was seen running away.

Initially, it was assumed Gracie had been kicked by a horse. But when paramedics took a closer look at her body, it was clear she had been attacked.

Sadly, Gracie did not survive the attack. The 23-year-old who had so much to live for, was declared dead at 8.50 am.

What did Michael Sellers do?

A post-mortem examination revealed that Spinks died from a stab wound that severed an artery and her spine. The person responsible for her stabbing is Michael Sellers.

When speaking about the way Sellers killed Gracie, the coroner said: “This was not a spur-of-the-moment act of violence. His actions were premeditated and carefully planned. The level of violence that he displayed during the murder is beyond comprehension.” (source)
