The Simpsons – Season 35 Episode 7 “It’s a Blunderful Life” Recap & Review

It’s a Blunderful Life

The latest episode of The Simpsons starts with the show giving us a glimpse of Thanksgiving 50 years from now. The Simpson family is having dinner, Homer is sadly no more, but he still can join his family for dinner thanks to hologram technology.

Lisa tells an apocalyptic story from her childhood.

The weather was terrible, and the Simpson family struggled to keep everything okay. Mr. Montgomery was exploiting his workers to get the job done and keep cheap company replacements unnoticed. The plant caught fire, and workers were out of work. The electricity went out in all of Springfield.

Everybody in the town blamed Homer for the blackout including Marge. Homer persistently stated his innocence to no avail. Mobs surrounded the Simpson house and made the family’s life miserable. With nothing to do, Lisa started a remembrance book.

Homer went to Moe’s but got kicked out. Grampa brought firewood, and everybody in the family enjoyed it like people used to do in the 30s. However, the joy was short-lived again.

People in the town moved Homer’s house to the top of the hill outside the town. Homer does a little thing that convinces Marge of his innocence. The family deduces the real man responsible for the blackout was Burns. Burns was subsequently captured and made to pay the fine.

The Episode Review

The Simpsons disappoints again. Besides entertainment, the narrative intends to send a message about the exploitation of power and flaws in judicial systems. But the way they do it is rather complex. It appeared as though the need to apply the theme of Thanksgiving compromised the story a bit. Some dialogues are humorous and correctly state the reality of systems. Even so, the episode falls flat and fails to crack a laugh.
