The Demon Prince of Momochi House – Season 1 Episode 7 Recap & Review

The Looking Glass at Twilight

The Demon Prince of Momochi House Episode 7 begins with Himari blushing while interacting with Aoi. Embarrassed, she rushes to school. Due to incomplete homework, she gets punished to help the professor clean his office.

After school, she helps the professor along with a few friends. She stumbles upon the Looking Glass, and the professor tells her that it shows a person what they desire the most. She takes a glance but sees nothing, as it is too dirty. The students then wind up cleaning and head home.

Entering home, she is strangely greeted by her parents. They express their wishes to stay with her forever, but she finds something strange and spots Kasha. He criticizes the way the human mind works. She realizes it’s not her parents and begins to run. They chase after her, and she runs into Ise and Yukari, who help her get rid of them. They then take her to Aoi.

Aoi asks her about the looking glass. She tells him it shows people what they desire the most, to which he questions if it’s him. She hesitantly agrees, and he reassures her that she is safe. He asks her to be by his side for all eternity in the Momochi house. She tells him it’s not possible as she will find a way to bring him out of the Momochi house. He claims it is impossible as he is already an ayakashi. She realizes it isn’t Aoi when he transforms into Nue just to convince her.

Just then he disappears, and she speaks with her alter-ego, who pushes her to live this lifestyle and live in this imaginary world. She tries to convince him that the real world Aoi is bad and doesn’t deserve her, but she is quick to defend him.

Following that, her alter ego disappears, and Kasha appears. He criticizes the loopholes in the human mind and how holding a mirror up to it makes it uncomfortable. He then disappears.

Himari uses the same concept to think of what she wants to do the most now, and the mirror teleports her back to reality. She finds herself in the professor’s room with her friends and the professor, who tells her she has gone blank for a few minutes. She rushes back to him to confess her feelings to Aoi at the end of The Demon Prince of Momochi House Episode 7.

The Episode Review

The Demon Prince of Momochi House Episode 7 brings up the gaping gap between the human mind’s conscious and subconscious minds, and it does so by literally holding up a mirror to the conscious mind. The looking glass in the chapter essentially shows a person’s deepest desires, regardless of their rationality.

Himari comes face-to-face with cognitive dissonance and decides to act on her consciousness. She looks into a mirror to take her back to the real world, implying her subconscious was altered by coming face-to-face with her desires.
