DIRECTOR
Dallas Jenkins is an American film and television director, writer and producer. He is the creator, director, executive producer as well as the co-writer of The Chosen – the first-ever multi-season show about the life of Jesus of Nazareth.
Over the years, Jenkins’ career has been focused on Christian media and he has directed several Christian-centric films like Midnight Clear (2006), What If… (2010), The Resurrection of Gavin Stone (2017), The Shepherd (2017) and more.
SCREENWRITER
The show is written by Dallas Jenkins, Tyler Thompson and Ryan Swanson. Tyler Thompson is known for writing the 2014 short film – The Two Thieves and the 2023 Christmas special – Christmas with the Chosen: Holy Night. Ryan Swanson is known for writing the 2023 Christmas special as well as the 2020 special – Christmas with the Chosen.
MAIN CAST
Jonathan Roumie – Jesus
Jonathan Roumie plays Jesus – a craftsman and a rabbi from Nazareth. The son of Mary and Joseph, he is considered the Messiah and the Son of God and is viewed as a potential threat by many. Jesus often identifies himself as the “Son of Man”.
Roumie is an actor and producer, known for his performance in The Chosen (2017), Jesus Revolution (2023) and Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again (2022).
The Apostles
The Apostles were the 12 men who were picked by Jesus from among his disciples (students) and were sent on a mission after his death and resurrection. Shahar Issac plays Simon Peter, a former fisherman who is the leader of the 12. Simon Peter is part of Jesus’ inner circle along with two other apostles. Noah James as Andrew, Simon Peter’s younger brother and another former fisherman.
Andrew was a former disciple of John the Baptist, Jesus’ cousin and a prophet. Abe Bueno-Jallad plays Big James, a former fisherman and the older son of Zebedee. Big James is a part of Jesus’ inner circle.
George H. Xanthis plays John, another former fisherman and the younger son of Zebedee. Jesus called John and Big James the “sons of Thunder”. He is a former friend of Simon Peter and Andrew as well as a part of Jesus’ inner circle.
Paras Patel plays Matthew, a former tax collector. Reza Diako plays Philip, a former disciple of John the Baptist and an old friend of Andrew and Nathanael. Austin Reed Alleman plays Nathanael, a former architect from Cana who is a friend of Philip.
Joey Vahedi plays Thomas who is a former caterer. He is Ramah’s former business partner and her suitor. Jordan Walker Ross plays Little James – the son of Alphaeus, a former prospective member of the 288 Jerusalem Temple choir.
Giavani Cairo plays Thaddeus, the son of James and a former stonemason from Bethsaida. Alaa Safi plays Simon the Zealot, a former Zealot from Ashkelon. Luke Dimyan plays Judas Iscariot, a former business apprentice who became the apostle who betrayed Jesus.
Vanessa Benavente as Mother Mary
Vanessa Benavente plays Mary, the mother of Jesus and the wife of Joseph of Nazareth. Benavente is known for her roles in Griselda (2024), At the Gates (2022) and Hold for Applause (2020).
Elizabeth Tabish as Mary Magdalene
Elizabeth Tabish plays Mary – a woman formerly possessed by a demon that was cured by Jesus. She, along with her friends helps Jesus’ ministry. Tabish is an actress and filmmaker who has directed several award-winning independent films.
Demetrios Troy as Lazarus
Demetrios Troy plays Lazarus, a businessman from Bethany and a childhood friend of Jesus. He is the mother of Mary and Matha. He is also the one who Jesus raised from the dead. Troy is known for his roles in Station Eleven (2021), Utopia (2020) and The Chosen (2017).

The fourth season of The Chosen will be live-streamed on The Chosen TV application and website from June 2, 2024 onwards.
