Episode 8 of Only Murders in the Building will be released on Tuesday 19th September at 12 am (PT) / 3 am (ET).
The episode is titled “Sitzprobe.” The plot summary for the episode reads: “Pressure mounts on the show’s most critical rehearsal day. A familiar official upends the case, Loretta’s complex past threatens to upend everything else and Charles must perform his number without going crazy.” Â

What Happened In Episode 7?
Episode 7 of Only Murders in the Building picks up in the aftermath of the falling out between our protagonist trio. “To each his own,” they say. And that is certainly not true in the case of these Arconia residents. Charles is replaced by the legendary Matthew Broderick in Oliver’s play. Cliff’s surprising friendship with the actor sways him to become a part of it.
Mabel is finishing packing up. Theo Dumas is helping her vacate the apartment. He tells her about the silent auction Ben’s brother Dickie is holding for his things upstairs. She quickly becomes interested and they pay Dickie a visit. It is revealed that Dickie was always in Ben’s shadow – as a kid and as an adult. Mabel later discovers that it was Dickie who came up with the idea of CoBro but Ben stole it and made millions out of it. She also realizes that Ben’s time of death, which the police declared as 12:06 AM, is actually incorrect.
The police looked at his watch to determine it but Ben always used to set his watch 20 minutes early so as not to be late to work. Since Gregg was seen exiting the Arconia at 12:06 AM and Ben died at 12:26 by that logic, he cannot be the killer.
Broderick drives Oliver crazy with his over-involvement in the play. Meanwhile, Charles forms an unfamiliar acquaintance with Uma, Bunny’s acerbic best friend, which does not last for long. We also learn that Uma is a kleptomaniac and stole Ben’s hanky. But she isn’t the murderer.
Charles and Oliver make up after the latter fires Broderick. They plan to offer Loretta’s book to Mabel as a peace offering but she has already vacated the apartment and released an episode of the podcast on her own. Does this mark an end to the iconic partnership?
