Will there be a Blue Beetle 2? Here’s what we know about a sequel:

Blue Beetle 2

James Gunn is now in charge of the DC universe, and Blue Beetle was one of the first projects to come out when it was released in August 2023. It starred Xolo Mariduena as the titular hero, and was directed by Angel Manuel Soto.

But will there be a Blue Beetle 2? Or do we have to settle for this one being a one-off ? Here’s what we know at the time of writing:

What is Blue Beetle about?

An alien scarab chooses Jaime Reyes to be its symbiotic host, bestowing the recent college graduate with a suit of armor that’s capable of extraordinary powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero known as Blue Beetle.

Will there be a sequel to Blue Beetle?

Blue Beetle 2 might happen as the director Angel Manuel Soto said he has plans for a potential Blue Beetle trilogy, with hopes for two more sequels following the initial origin movie.

James Gunn has also reaffirmed this sentiment by declaring Blue Beetle as the “first DCU character” and expressing his eagerness for audiences to witness Jaime Reyes  progress in the DCU.

What will Blue Beetle 2 be about?

Blue Beetle 2 would likely be the continuing adventures of Jaime Reyes, focusing on his powers and thrusting him into another battle against more villains, as he explores his newfound superhero status.

When will Blue Beetle 2 be released?

The release date for Blue Beetle 2 is uncertain, as it would depend on the success of the first film and the scheduling of other projects in the DCU.

However, since there is currently no information regarding Blue Beetle 2, and the first film was a box office flop, it is best to avoid getting your hopes up, as the likelihood of one is in the balance at the moment.

Of course, this is all speculation and if anything changes, we’ll be sure to update you!

  1. I was Skeptical when my son asked me to watch it with him. I normally don’t like superhero movies but his one was pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised. The characters were likeable. George Lopez was a crackup with his comments. But the beard and long hair was not believable for one minute. I especially liked the Gramma! I hope there is a part 2!

  2. Yes! Blue Beetle 2 Pretty please! I just watched the movie with my daughters and we are hooked. We love DCU and Blue Beetle!

  3. I would absolutely love to see a Blue Beetle 2 I definitely enjoyed the first Blue Beetle. It was by far the best movie I have ever seen. I would really hope for a Blue Beetle 2. I really hope they can make it happen. I would Love to see a Blue Beetle Sequel.

  4. Dear Mr. James Gunn :
First CONGRATULATIONS!! on your new position as the Major Decision Maker of the UPDATED DC Universe! I would like to suggest that inspite of the So-Called movie critics!! who seemingly LACK IMAGINATION!!! REJECT DIVERSITY!! and are also seemingly as Troglodytes ‘ Stuck On Stupid ‘ still living in the 1800’s!!! Don’t FAIRLY review Non White-Looking unknown/known actors, screen writers, and directors who offer NEW! Out of the Box Perspectives for Our Sophisticated, Diverse, and Unique Perspective’s for TV shows, and Movies . If you are Open to Untapped revenue?!? I would suggest considering the VALUE!! of ALL the POPULAR Diverse Superheros of COLOR Within the DC Universe that number over 100!! Such as ‘ Earth 23’s Calvin Ellis Superman; John Steward, Jessica Cruz Green Lanterns; Lady Shiva; Queen Nubia; Karen Beecher ‘Bumblebee’; ‘Borinquena’; ‘Empress’ Anita Fite; and others!!! and with that in mind! you should Really GreenLight ‘Blue Beetle’ 2, 3, 4, 5!!! She Hulk 2; even with YOUR perceived!! sense that they didn’t do well !! But if you know your film history! There are a lot of shows/movies that didn’t seem to do well, but has a very, very Large group of people who LOVED!!! these movies/shows but WERE NEVER ASKED!!!! if they wanted MORE!! Like, will Marvel again upstage you? by being the First to bring to the Big Screen the First Non white-looking Superhero from the Disabled community?!? and/or other Diverse Superheros of Color?!? with the REALITY that our country is moving towards almost 40% Intelligent and Sophisticated People of Color! who would support these new characters . Just some Food for Thought . May your days continue to be Blessed and productive! with Safe travels .
